Professor of Linguistics, Newcastle University

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Newcastle University  seeks to appoint an outstanding scholar to the post of Professor of Linguistics. The appointment will be made in any field of Linguistics.

This post is part of a substantial investment by the University in Modern Languages and linguistics, which will see appointments to professors in French, German, and Linguistics for September 2017.

The appointee will make a major contribution to research and learning & teaching in Linguistics, and will provide strategic research leadership for Linguistics within the Modern Languages and Linguistics Unit of Assessment which includes researchers from three schools (the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics, the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences, and the School of Modern Languages).

We invite applications from individuals with an outstanding record in research (including publications, research grant income, and PhD supervision), successful research and academic leadership experience, an established international reputation, and a record of excellence in teaching. The Faculty welcomes applications from specialists in all fields of linguistics in order to build on the strengths, and enhance the multidisciplinary nature of Linguistics at Newcastle. The Professor position will be based in the School which most clearly aligns with their research and teaching specialisms.
